BCW is the global PR partner of AstraZeneca for a longtime and AZ wanted to change the perception around its vaccine as well as push for a conversation on Vaccine equity.
But AstraZeneca was challenged in Francophone Africa by the bad coverage from the vaccine’s issues in France and the large influence of French media in this region.
Our work was then to engage the media both in Côte d’Ivoire and at a pan African level to create a space for AstraZeneca spokesperson, namely the Country President for Africa, Barbara Nel to deliver the message of trust in science, trust in the institutions, partnerships, and collaboration to fight a global pandemic.
BBC World News, RFI, Soir Infos, Linfodrome.com, AIP.ci were media opportunities for Barbara Nel to present the evidence around the AstraZeneca covishield – to announce African vaccine shipment milestones of 45 million doses delivered, to confirm AstraZeneca’s commitment to driving equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines working with COVAX and partners.
